Yard ("the App") is a private, building-restricted marketplace and community platform available exclusively to verified residents of participating buildings. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Name and unit number — collected when you join a building
Email address — collected via your account login
Listing content — photos, descriptions, and details of items you post
Messages — content of conversations between residents
Community board posts — content you post to your building's board

Information Collected Automatically

Device push notification token — to send you message notifications
Usage data — basic app activity to maintain and improve the service

How We Use Your Information

To verify your residency and provide access to your building's community
To facilitate listings, messaging, and community posts between residents
To send push notifications for new messages
To maintain and improve the App

Third-Party Services

Yard uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Clerk (authentication) — clerk.com/privacy
Ably (real-time messaging) — ably.com/privacy
Expo (push notifications) — expo.dev/privacy
Neon (database hosting) — neon.tech/privacy

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data is only shared:

With other verified residents of your building (name, unit number, listings, messages)
With the third-party services listed above as necessary to operate the App

Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal information and content will be removed from our systems.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account directly within the App:

Open the Profile tab
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
Confirm the deletion when prompted

This will permanently remove your account and all associated personal data, including your listings, messages, and community posts. This action cannot be undone.

You can also request account deletion by emailing yardappsupport@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete My Account".

Children's Privacy

Yard is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
